My favourite line: 'I had to rewire my brain to fetishize kindness and openess over toxicity' If only all women could do this, instead of chasing trauma-bonding 😃

You nailed it. We are so wired to believe that crazy obsession and pain is love. It's not. Kindness. Laughter. Consistency. That's love.

I am the biggest fan of Stephanie’s writing. After I read Sweetbitter I went hunting for more of her work and saw so much of myself in her memoir. It’s comforting to see her in an era of contentment and I somehow feel more steady when she acknowledges that it all could be fleeting.

Contentment and fleeting. I couldn't agree more. I had the same feeling when she shared her story with me.

The bits about regret… and the forgiving of oneself. And the love that sneaks up on you. And how it all leads to where you’re meant to be, who you’re meant to be. The sheer beauty of it. I so needed to read this today. ✨

It's the love that sneaks up on you that everyone needs to remember, sometimes it happens when you least expect it... ✨

"As suspected, by the end of the Camino, I was exactly the same and still in a ton of pain and unable to forgive myself for what I did to my ex." --> way to raise my hopes and dash them in one paragraph! For two sentences I almost opened a separate browser tab and booked my own Camino getaway. Would love a magic solution of my own to get rid of romantic regret, but the conclusion to this piece is beautiful. Our mistakes are part of the stories of who we become.
